It is that time of year again when people begin to give thanks for all the good in their life. It is brought about by a holiday where family and friends come together to celebrate and give thanks for the food they have, the roof over their heads, the clothes on their backs and the family and friends that warm their souls.
This Thanksgiving I would like to encourage you to be thankful for something else. I would like you to be thankful for the challenges you face, the struggles that you have endured, the obstacles that have been put in your way, and the sadness you have felt. It is easy to give thanks for the good things in life especially when those things have come to us easily. But being truly thankful is being grateful for what you have because of the struggle, heartache, and pain that you endured and were than rewarded for your persistence, dedication, faith, trust, and hard work. If life was easy, would you truly appreciate what you have? If you didn’t have to fight for what really mattered would it really worth it?
I truly believe you are never given more than you can handle. I know at times you can feel overwhelmed and think “why me?”. In times like this I encourage you to say “thank you”. Say Thank You to the Universe for providing you with challenges, heartache, pain, and obstacles to show you your own strength. It is through struggle and challenge that you get to see what you are really made and capable of. It is through resistance that we become stronger. It is through doubt that we gain confidence. It is through challenge that we gain strength. It is through heartache that we learn how to love and live. It is through sadness that we are thankful for joy. This Thanksgiving, don’t just be thankful for the rewards, be thankful for the journey that brought you those rewards. Be thankful for being given the opportunity to show the world and, more importantly, yourself that you can do it and no matter the struggle, no matter the challenge, no matter the heartache, you will persevere and come out on the other side stronger and better than you were before. Be thankful that you were presented with the struggles that made you the person that you are today.
